The beautiful Watergate Forest Park can be found just a hop, skip and a jump from the A1 in the borough of Gateshead and is located on the site of the former Watergate colliery. Reclamation work in the 1990s transformed the area into a haven for wildlife and an idyllic place to take a walk, comprised of woodlands, wetlands, wildflower meadows and a myriad of recreational routes.
