Top Places To Get Your Sweet Treat Fix in Newcastle

Newcastle’s food and drink scene is as exciting and eclectic as the city itself, boasting an excellent range of restaurants, pubs and bars. However, it is the sweet treats of the toon that have been playing on our minds this week, with a host of high-quality delectable delights being served up by the friendliest local businesses. We’ve rounded up our favourites, perfect for an indulgent breakfast or a pick-me-up treat.

Cake Stories

Cake Stories opened their doors in Jesmond in 2015 and have created an exceedingly friendly atmosphere, matched with a delightful range of cakes, ‘brownios’ and other delicious bakes. The so-called ‘brownios’, are an insanely decadent treat featuring two fudge brownie shells, sandwiching a layer of buttercream and tasty fillings, all before being dipped into a smooth layer of chocolate with added crumbly toppings.

They are open for sit-ins and takeouts, feature additional vegan goodies, and can be enjoyed with a coffee or tea and even a glass of wine or craft ale – should the mood suit! If you’re wanting to share the love, they also deliver letterbox bakes and brownios, with next day delivery available.

The Chocolate Smiths

The Chocolate Smiths are killing the game when it comes to exciting local sweet goodies, so much so that their stock is often sold out! You may need to sign up to be notified of their next batches, but trust us, it’s worth the effort! It is, of course, ‘The Geordie Chocolate Bar’ that has been our flavoursome favourite.

Not only does the bar reflect the Geordie spirit, with a chocolate heart of gold in the middle, but the delectable combination of milk and white chocolate, filled with a sumptuous liquid caramel filling, has had us weak at the knees and in danger of falling into chocolate addiction territory. All chocolate is handmade in Newcastle and their bars feature a range of delicious and imaginative flavour combinations. From salted caramel brownie, white chocolate birthday cake, mint-choc chip and banoffee bread, these bars can be ordered online and make a perfect gift or an indulgent treat for yourself (because why not!).

Pet Lamb Patisserie

Pet Lamb Patisserie was founded in 2009 by best friends Katie and Kay and started as an on-the-road cupcake and brownie store, selling their goodies from folding tables. In 2012 they opened their own cake-shop of dreams, situated in The Grainger Market, and have continued to thrive over the past decade, combining a warm and positive customer service with simply otherworldly bakes.

You can find delights such as Biscoff, Jammy Dodger and Slutty Blondies alongside Kinder, Salted Caramel and Oreo Brownies – just to name a few! Their menu features vegan treats and often many new and equally delicious additions, as well as boasting a decadent range of cupcakes and bake to order services, for birthdays and celebrations. Pet Lamb Patisserie is truly a slice of heaven, always serving the freshest and most irresistible of bakes.

The yummiest treats of the toon. Check out these sweet websites for more info on where to find them, or just to drool over their pictures.
