The end of 2021 is drawing closer and closer (eek!) and with it, December 25th. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, you can’t deny that there’s a festive buzz in the air.

If you’re looking for some seasonal things to do around the city, look no further. We’ve got you covered!

Christmas Markets

The first stop on any festive tour no matter where you are should be the Christmas Markets! Whilst they may be a little smaller this year due to Covid, the stalls are chock full of yummy food and local traders.

P.S. You have to check out the bratwurst tower!

Christmas Floor

Right near the markets is the entrance to Fenwicks. Why would a department store be on a list of the most festive spots in Newcastle you might ask? Well… other than their famous Christmas window, they have an entire floor dedicated to Christmas!

Decked out in red, the Christmas floor has everything you might need for the festive season. With a bauble wall, gifting areas, and even a makers market showcasing local businesses, there is something for everyone.

If you fancy a bite to eat while you’re down there, you can head to Rudolph’s Restaurant- and why not grab a Christmas Champagne Cocktail whilst you’re there!

Alpine Roof Thirty Nine

Speaking of Christmas cocktails, Fenwick’s have transformed their rooftop bar into a winter wonderland. With fake fur pelts, Christmas lights, plants galore, and much needed heaters- Alpine Roof Thirty Nine is a gorgeous spot for a girls day out or even a date night!

Christmas Window

The Fenwicks Christmas window is famous in Newcastle! You can hear its music from ages away, sometimes even up in Alpine Roof Thirty Nine! Each year the window is dressed up to a specific theme and this year it’s Shaun the Sheep.

Shaun’s epic winter adventure can be seen throughout Fenwick’s display window and is so popular that people queue to see it.

Ice Skating at the Life Centre

Let’s strap our skates on! The Life Centre has opened its rink up again this year for people to come and skate to your hearts content.

Located in Time’s Square, the rink opens up every year so get yourself down some pure skating joy.

Go for Festive Afternoon Tea at the Great British Cupcakery

The Great British Cupcakery may be the most aesthetically pretty spot in Newcastle. Then they combine Christmas decorations, drinks and afternoon tea? *chefs kiss*

With options like a festive afternoon tea, grinch hot chocolate, and candy cane brownies- GBCC is a must visit for anyone with a sweet tooth this Christmas!

Urban Gardens x The Dining Society

The collaboration the quayside has been waiting for: Urban Gardens x The Dining Society

The bespoke dining pods are reminiscent of igloos and are surrounded by beautiful views of the River Tyne. You can book one of these pods for a seasonal 3 course meals and drinks for up to 10 people.

Hadrian’s Tipi

A Newcastle Christmas Staple: You know it’s Christmas time when the tipi goes up!

If you’re wanting to cosy up by the fire, make sure you book first! Walk-ins are are available but getting that fire-spot might be a little harder.

If you’re fancying some mulled wine or even just a hot chocolate, sitting in the tipi is guaranteed to get you feeling merry! You can find the tipi inside The Stack on Pilgrim Street.
